Miss Chin looks beyond KipRich drama; focuses on her career
Some may only know her as KipRich’s babymother, but Yanique Shim, more popularly known as Miss Chin, is so much more. The 30-year-old, mother of one is also a recording artiste, who says she is fully focused on carving out her own space in the music industry.
Following last year’s media brawl between her and her ex, which played out on social media, Miss Chin says she has put the drama behind her and emphasises that her only concern now is pushing her career.
“I am way past KipRich and the drama. I don’t want our daughter to grow up and see all of this keep going on. I still don’t have access to my child, so me and him will never be good but my focus is on me and my music career,” she said pointing out that she believes she has what it takes to make it in the entertainment sphere.
“I plan to take my music all the way to the international level and I believe I’m going to get there. I’m putting in the work because I know it won’t be easy. I just hope people will recognise my talent and support the music,” Miss Chin said.
Currently, Chin is promoting her songNah Mad (Ova No Man), a counteraction to Munga Honourable’s smash hit,Nah Mad (Ova No Gyal). According to Chin, the song, which was released early last month, has been doing well and has been creating some buzz, especially among the ladies.
“It (the song) is doing well. It has been getting a lot of airplay. It’s heavily rotated on local radio stations. The women love it. My song is now their anthem, their ringtone, everything. Ladies all over the world have been sending me videos of themselves singing my song and just vibing. I’m overwhelmed by the support,” Chin said.
The music video for the track premièred last Friday and Miss Chin says she is hoping the visuals can further push the song as she believes the track has potential to be a hit.
