ACCOUNTANT CHARGED FOR ABDUCTING BABY AT VICTORIA JUBILEE HOSPITAL IN KINGSTON
The police have charged the woman who was held last week trying to register the baby that was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in downtown Kingston in January.
The accused has been identified as Petagaye Ffrench, 28, an accountant at a Corporate Area plumbing firm.
Police reports states that Ffrench was on Tuesday slapped with child stealing charges.
The police said she was pointed out on an identification parade as the female who was seen on the grounds of the medical facility on the day the newborn child went missing.
Police reports were that the baby was taken from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital at about 4:30 a.m. on January 9, after the child's mother went to the bathroom to freshen up, leaving the baby on her bed.
On her return, the baby was missing.
An alarm was immediately raised.
The baby was recovered after suspicions were aroused when Ffrench went to process the baby at the Registrar General's Department (RGD) in Twickenham Park, St Catherine. Discrepancies were reportedly noted about her account of the child’s birth
